Selena
She broke down barriers within the music industry in her roles as a performer, singer and designer. She was both contemporary and traditional a Mexican-American performer who merged both realms of music in an unison way. And she delivered incredible Tejano music to an affluent audience. It was her sudden death which shattered her rising image. This is what happens to a lot of stars who die too young. The result is that fans were inspired throughout through the years to dig their heels even harder working to make sure her accomplishments won't be lost in the dust. Selena's shooting death sparked an emotional response within the Latino culture that can be similar to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was a hugely well-known Latino performer across North America. Her music transcended boundaries and touched the hearts of younger and more mature adults. Selena might have been described by some as a Latina Madonna, but she's still a fantastic example to follow. Selena's values of family life offstage as well as her involvement in AIDS awareness campaigns make her a good example.
